Bishop Athenagoras of Myrina describes the missionary work in the Caribbean, focusing on Cuba, where 3,600 Orthodox Christians are served in five parishes. Despite the shortage of clergy and financial difficulties, the Church offers social work (pharmacy, soup kitchens) and is expanding into new areas such as Aruba and the Dominican Republic.
The construction of the Holy Church of Panagia Pantanassa and Saint Athanasius in Cereté, Colombia, a donation from our Fraternity, has been completed. The church, spanning 250 square meters and featuring island architecture, serves a populous and dynamic parish with many young children.
