Missionary and School Visits to the Fraternity

Recently, our Fraternity had the honor of hosting many laborers in the vineyard of the Foreign Mission.

Initially, we were visited by His Grace Bishop Athanasios of Benin and Togo , who informed the members of the Board of Directors about the progress of his missionary work. Special mention was made of the orphanage operating under his jurisdiction, which received the scheduled financial support from our Fraternity.

Subsequently, we welcomed the Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis of Arusha (Tanzania), Fr. Porphyrios, accompanied by the Archiepiscopal Commissioner Fr. Maximos . The fathers expressed their warm gratitude for the unwavering support of the Fraternity, focusing on the completion of the expansion of their local school, which was entirely funded by us. Concurrently, they received a promise, as well as the first installment of funds, for the reconstruction of the Holy Church of the Holy Trinity.

Also, our offices were visited by His Grace Bishop Silvester of Jinja and Eastern Uganda . In a personal meeting with the President of the Fraternity, he provided an update on the progress of projects funded through the Fraternity.

Particular spiritual joy was offered by the presence of the hierarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of Mexico . His Eminence thanked the Fraternity for its multifaceted support to his Metropolis, both for the completion and inauguration of the Holy Church of Saint Athanasios in Cereté, and for the monthly coverage of the needs of students from the countries under his pastoral responsibility.

Furthermore, we had the blessing to once again welcome His Grace Bishop Konstantinos of South Sudan . His Grace informed us about the utilization of the resources he received during his previous visit, and he was offered a significant amount for the needs of soup kitchens and baptisms, as well as funding for two new wells. The Fraternity undertook his hospitality for one week, organizing contacts with holy metropolises, monasteries, and spiritual associations in northern Greece, with the aim of broader dissemination of his work.

During the same period, our facilities were filled with the voices of students from the 2nd Junior High School of Toumba, who, accompanied by their teachers, were given a guided tour of the Fraternity’s African Art Exhibition.

Finally, we warmly hosted the new head of the newly established Foreign Mission Office of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki, a long-time acquaintance and friend of the Mission, Fr. Theodosios Argyropoulos . During the meeting, ways for future cooperation were discussed, and we expressed our deepest respect and appreciation to our Shepherd, His All-Holiness Metropolitan Philotheos of Thessaloniki, for his love and support. We wished Fr. Theodosios every blessing and a good start in his new duties.
