A Boarding School for the Children of Southern Madagascar

There are places in the world where childhood does not simply unfold… it struggles.

Where mornings do not begin with the school bell, but with the sound of footsteps on dry earth, with the sun burning early, and with a child clutching an old notebook as if holding their entire life.

In Southern Madagascar, education is not a given. It is not free. It is a difficult path, full of obstacles, which for most children abruptly ends precisely where it should truly begin after primary school.

In our villages, with God’s help and the love of people, we built schools.

Small beacons of light amidst great poverty.

There, every morning, you see children arriving barefoot, in torn clothes, but with eyes that shine.

They enter the classroom and hold their pencil as if it were a treasure.

They learn to write their name… and with it, they write their existence into the world for the first time.

And then hope is born.

However, for many, this hope does not last long.

When primary school ends, a silent tragedy begins.

There are no junior high or high schools nearby.

And where they do exist, they are so far away that distance becomes a wall.

Families cannot afford tuition. They cannot afford transportation. They cannot even offer a plate of food for the child who would leave home.

And so, the child who until yesterday was learning to read… stops.

Returns to the fields. To survival. To necessity.

I have seen children standing before me, silent.

Children with remarkable intelligence, with a clarity of thought that moves you deeply.

And they tell me with simplicity:

“I want to continue… but I cannot.”

How can one bear this phrase?

How can one accept that a child does not continue not because they do not want to, but because they are not allowed to?

I have seen eyes dim.

Not from a lack of dreams… but from a lack of opportunity.

And in this silence, in this injustice, a need was born within us that could no longer wait.

The need to do something meaningful.

Something that would provide continuity where today there is an end.

Thus, the vision for creating a boarding school in Southern Madagascar was born.

Not just a building.

But a vibrant space of hope.

A home that will open its arms to children from the most remote villages.

Children who currently have no possibility of continuing their education.

There, they will be able to stay safely, be fed, have the essentials, and most importantly, continue to junior high and high school.

Imagine a child who until yesterday walked for hours under the sun… now having a bed.

A table to study at.

A light that will not go out when night falls.

Imagine a child who was in danger of being lost… finding a path.

This is what we want to create.

Because education is not merely knowledge.

It is dignity.

It is freedom.

It is the ability of a person to stand tall and say, “I can.”

This boarding school will be a place where “I cannot” will transform into “I am trying”… and slowly into “I succeed.”

We do not delude ourselves that we will solve all problems.

But we have faith that we can change the lives of some children.

And every child saved from abandonment… is an entire world saved.

I am writing these lines not merely to move you… but to invite you.

To become fellow travelers on this journey.

To walk together this difficult but blessed path.

Because this work does not belong to one person.

It belongs to all who believe that no child should be left behind.

In Southern Madagascar, at this very moment, there are children waiting without knowing what they are waiting for.

Children who hold a future within them… but lack the means to reach it.

Let us be the means.

Let us be the bridge.

Let us be that invisible force that will tell them

“You are not alone. Someone thought of you. Someone loved you without knowing you.”

And then… a small boarding school, in a corner of Southern Madagascar, will become a place of miracle.

Because the greatest miracle is not to change the world.

It is to change the world of a child.
