Honorary Distinction of the Fraternity by the Holy Metropolis of Kalamaria

On the occasion of the recent canonization of the Venerable Father Chrysostomos Papasarantopoulos, the Metropolis of Nea Krini and Kalamaria honored the holy, Spirit-inspired elder and missionary of Africa, Fr. Chrysostomos!

The Saint served in the parish church of Agia Paraskevi Kalamaria during the difficult years of the civil war, 1947-1949.

He found himself here under difficult circumstances. But it was the occasion for him to meet his spiritual children, the refugee children of Macedonia, who later responded to his call for help in Africa and founded our Fraternity, which was initially named “The Friends of Uganda.”

Since then, the Orthodox External Mission Fraternity has always stood by him, until the end of his life on December 29, 1972. It was created with his blessings, for the moral and material support of the difficult and glorious work of the mission in the vineyard of the Lord!

We thank His Eminence Metropolitan Ioustinos of Nea Krini and Kalamaria, who honored the Fraternity with the Cross of Saint Eugenios, for the complex work it has been carrying out for sixty years!

His love for the Mission transcended the geographical boundaries of his Metropolis, and with this love, he embraces every effort made to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth!

May God increase and protect his work in his Holy Metropolis!
