Baptisms in Mojokerto, East Java
On June 28, the eve of the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, in Mojokerto, East Java, a group of catechumens joined the body of the Church. Father Timothy Joko Wumbarwibowo performed the sacraments of Baptism and Chrismation, immersing the newly illumined in the baptistery and then anointing them with Holy Myrrh, in a simple yet reverent ceremony held at the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
Men and women stood dressed in white baptismal garments and received the Holy Chrism. Members of the local Orthodox community watched with emotion the moment of rebirth of these new members into Orthodoxy.
The mission in Indonesia continues to grow, soul by soul, thanks to the efforts of clergy like Father Timothy, who faithfully serve the small but vibrant Orthodox communities of this island nation. Let us support them!
