A new well of life in Cameroon, a tribute to the memory of the victims of Tempi
In the parish of Saint Catherine in the city of Garoua, northern Cameroon, the construction of a new well was recently completed, thanks to the donation of an anonymous donor of the Orthodox Missionary Fraternity. The project was carried out under the supervision of His Eminence Metropolitan Gregory of Cameroon, in cooperation with the local community.
The construction of the well holds special significance. The Holy Metropolis of Cameroon chose to dedicate it to the memory of one of the victims of the Tempi tragedy, wishing for the pain of a national tragedy to be transformed into life for people thousands of kilometers away.
The practical value of a well in areas like Garoua is disproportionately great compared to its construction cost. Previously, residents were forced to travel long distances to reach a water source, often contaminated. Access to clean water reduces waterborne diseases and frees up time, especially for women and children, who can now dedicate themselves to education and work.
The residents welcomed the project with joy and gratitude, knowing that people they will never meet thought of them and assisted them in their hardship.
The Orthodox Missionary Fraternity thanks the anonymous donor for their generous contribution and prays for the repose of the souls of the victims of Tempi, whose memory will now remain alive in a corner of Africa.
