Participation in an Event on Mission for Saints Cyril & Methodius

The President of the Fraternity, Mr. Charalambos Metallidis, participated in the symposium held on May 4, 2026, at the Pilgrimage Holy Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Thessaloniki, on the topic “The Role of Fraternities in Missionary Consciousness.”

The symposium, held in anticipation of today’s feast day of the two saints, was titled “Mission Yesterday and Today: From Saints Cyril and Methodius to Contemporary Missionary Witness” and was conducted in the presence of the Hierarch of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki, Metropolitan Mr. Philotheos.

Alongside Mr. Metallidis, Mr. Petros Panagiotopoulos, Vice President and Associate Professor of the Department of Theology at A.U.Th., and Mr. Nikolaos Tsirevelos, Dr. of Theology and Lecturer in the same Department, also spoke. A fruitful discussion followed the presentations.

Concluding the event, Metropolitan Philotheos emphasized that the two Thessalonian Saints Cyril and Methodius preached the true God to the Slavic peoples, while also carrying out civilizing work and translating the sacred texts of the Church into their language.
