A new well by the Fraternity in Malawi
Dear friends of the Mission,
Rejoice in the Lord always.
As we traverse the period of Holy and Great Lent, we are called by Mother Church to navigate its sea with repentance and almsgiving.
In repentance, that is, as sinners and unworthy before God, to seek His mercy, meaning forgiveness, leniency, and compassion; for, as we chant: “If You, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? For with You there is forgiveness.”
In almsgiving, that is, for us to offer mercy, forgiveness, leniency, and assistance to our fellow human beings. “Let your gentleness be known to all men” and “for judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy.”
Therefore, my beloved brethren, glory be to God who has deemed us worthy, by His Grace, for you and us to offer mercy to our needy brethren here, through the new borehole we inaugurated a few days ago in the parish of the Three Hierarchs, in the Migowi area.

After the doxology to the Lord, the Giver of all good things, we owe you our thanks for the compassion you have shown towards the brethren of Christ by funding this project, spearheaded, as we were informed, by Fr. Anastasios Kontoleon, whom we particularly thank.
My beloved and cherished brethren, thanking you once again, we inform your love that other parishes also await clean water. Please, therefore, continue to show mercy, especially during this period.
Finally, know that with the five thousand euros that each borehole costs, you not only provide clean water to thousands of distressed people, but you also become co-workers with God in His work for the salvation of people who are in the darkness of error and superstitions. Each borehole becomes a “beacon” that attracts new members to His Church, which is, as you know, the Ark of Salvation.
I wish you all a blessed and good Great Lent, in repentance and almsgiving.
With many prayers and special honor and gratitude,
† Photios of Lilongwe
