The Bishop of Benin at Our Fraternity
We gladly welcomed His Grace Bishop Athanasios of Benin and Togo to the Fraternity’s offices. The active hierarch informed the members of the Board of Directors about the progress and goals of his missionary work, shared his visions, and discussed the challenges he faces in his daily pastoral ministry.
His diocese is staffed by fifteen priests: six in Togo, where he also resides, and nine in Benin. One of his primary goals is the creation of a missionary center in Togo, which will also include a seminary, as well as the establishment of an orphanage in the same country. At the same time, he is making strenuous efforts to initiate systematic missionary work in the third country under his pastoral responsibility, Burkina Faso.
His Grace expressed his gratitude for the Fraternity’s steadfast support, particularly for the shipment of a container with humanitarian aid. During the discussion, the possibility of another shipment in the near future, this time to Burkina Faso, was considered. Concurrently, we procured ecclesiastical items for the parishes of the Holy Diocese, while also congratulating His Grace on his work and zeal, assuring him of our continued support.
