Ordinations of new clergy in Indonesia

Saturday, June 11, 2015, was a particularly joyful and blessing-filled day for the Holy Metropolis of Singapore and South Asia. His Eminence Metropolitan Constantine of Singapore celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Demetrius Medan Cathedral in Sumatra and ordained Deacon Luke Tobing as Elder and the associate of the Holy Metropolis on the island of Nias, Mr. Chariton Zega as Deacon. The two new clergymen, who will minister to the Orthodox communities in Sumatra, are graduates of the St. Paul’s Theological Seminary of Medan. The Theological School is run under the care of the Holy Metropolis of Singapore and South Asia and is recognized as a higher educational institution by the Indonesian government. In addition to his new duties, the new Deacon Chariton will continue to direct the “St. Nicholas” Primary School of the Holy Metropolis on the island of Nias in Sumatra. Participating in the Divine Liturgy and the ordinations were Protopresbyter Chrysostomos Manalu, Archpriest Commissioner of Indonesia, Elder Theodosius Naben, Chaplain in Sumatra, Protopresbyter Martin Ritsi, Director of the missionary organization OCMC, and Elder Nathan D. Kroll, from America.
