Three new boreholes in Congo (DRC)

Dear brothers and sisters, Christ is risen.

I am writing to you from Kisangani, wanting to express once again our thanks for the drilling of 3 wells so far. 2 in the town of Bunia and one in Kisangani.

All three boreholes have been made with care and with special attention by my Minority and by the people who accompany our missionary work, in order to serve our people with as clean water as possible and to quench their thirst, but also to serve their needs, such as cleanliness, which is a good that is very hard to find, but also very important for man.

Wells and boreholes have been built here to provide a good that for the developed world is the simplest good that any child and any human being could enjoy. When we waste tap water, even for our own personal amusement, consider that others are deprived of it and, because of its scarcity, suffer from diseases which, if not properly treated, lead to death. A classic example is typhus (typhoid fever), but also a number of other diseases caused by unclean water.

My brothers and sisters, with the money you have donated for the construction of our wells and boreholes, we are pleased to say that our newly formed Diocese has begun to offer a little humanitarian help to our world.

This world, born in insecurity and lack of goodness, truly deserves a better way of dealing with the modern world. We are at the beginning of our effort and I can say that God stands before us in every step and in every struggle and agony. But your help, for which we are grateful in many ways, is at the same time an invaluable moral support. A confirmation of our good course, but also a consolation in the midst of our trials and tribulations, in a land tested by strife and wars, such as the land which, with the grace and blessings of our Patriarch, but also of all of you, we humbly serve.

Christ is risen!

May the resurrection Hara of the Lord always be with you and your families.

Bishop Polykarpos of Bunia
