Support the creation of a new farm in Busoga, Uganda

Dear friends of the Mission, We would like to congratulate you for the amazing work you are always doing for the African nations through evangelism and supporting those in need. The economic crisis that Greece is going through has affected us so much in terms of the missionary work and the care we provide for our children in every school. We are facing difficulties in feeding our orphans and providing them with school supplies, as we did based on the financial help we received from your Brotherhood. This has affected us and the whole Orthodox Church in Uganda in general. But we continue to believe and have the firm conviction that “Ola tha pane kala” in the future. In the general priestly assembly held last year, our spiritual father, Metropolitan Jonah of Uganda advised all the priests to create possible means that can make each parish financially self-sufficient so that we can continue the missionary work without waiting for donors from outside Greece, as Greece is under strong financial pressure.

For this reason, we sat down and drew up a small future plan, which is simple, but at the same time difficult, because we don’t have the means to start it. We thought about how we can work today for a better future at our two permanent parishes, St. James in Nawango and the Annunciation in Nakyaka, along with the six chapels and whatever others are created. We agreed to start raising livestock (cattle and pigs) on a small 20-30 acre farm and raise at least six cows as a small start. We believe that if you help us buy this land and six cows, after two years, this small farm will be a source of income and provide milk to our schools, giving the poor children we care for the opportunity to drink milk every day from their own farm. This will require around EUR 290 per acre and EUR 280 per cow, i.e. a total of EUR 5 800 for 20 acres and EUR 1 680 for 6 cows. Therefore, brothers, we appeal to our missionary friends who can help us to support this effort to create possible means of survival for our parishes and our children.
