On Tuesday, August 9, His Eminence, Metropolitan George of Accra visited parishes in the Archdiocese of Eastern Ghana. Shortly before noon he arrived at his final destination which was the Church of the Nativity of Christ the Saviour at Dwaha village. In all the churches, the faithful waited for the pastor at the entrance of the village and gave him a warm welcome following the African tradition. At the Holy Church of the Nativity, His Eminence performed group baptisms of catechumens and addressed the dense congregation, conveying among other things the blessings, blessings and paternal love of Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria.
Need to build a school
He then met with the king and the local tribal chiefs and discussed with them issues of concern to the region and especially the the need to build a school and a clinic. His Eminence listened attentively to their requests and promised to do his best so that next to the Holy Church, which was built on land offered by the King, an Orthodox school and clinic could be built as soon as possible. Before his departure he distributed sweets to the hundreds of children who had crowded the churchyard and visited the rudimentary school that operates in the village under century-old trees and rudimentary huts with palm leaves for roofing and discussed with the teachers the problems they face especially during the rainy season.
