But the work stopped before it could really get started, as donations have dropped dramatically and I am unable to continue.
Dear Mr. President and Members of the Orthodox Foreign Missionary Brotherhood, Hail in the Lord always! I hope and pray that you are well. Thank you for the 5,000 euros you sent us for the hungry, and the 20,000 euros for the completion of our St. Ignatius orphanage. The charitable programmes, which you already know about, are all running as normal:
- Soup kitchens: Breakfast soup in Kaligat for homeless children. Lunch distribution to the elderly, sick and homeless.
- 2 orphanages: Girls’ orphanage “The Theotokos” with 100 girls. Agios Ignatius” orphanage for boys with 21 boys aged 3-8 years old.
- 9 Clinics: One in Kaligat, at the Greek Church of Calcutta, three at the Girls’ Orphanage (pathology, dental and ophthalmology), one in Nohati in the Parish of the Three Hierarchs, one in Akina in St. Nektarios Parish, one in Gospur in Holy Baptist Parish, one in Takuranychok in St. Peter and Paul Parish, and one in Dilkagram in St. Nicholas Parish. Andrei
- 6 Primary Schools: In the village of Monahorpur in the Parish of St. George, in the village of Dilkagram in the Parish of St. Andrew, in the village of Kaknan in the Parish of St. Charalambos, in the village of Takuranychok in the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul, in the village of Goranta in the Parish of St. In the village of Gorky, in the village of Gorky, in the parish of Raphael, Nicholas and Irene, and in the orphanage of Theleon, the school “St. Ignatius” for our young girls and boys and for children of the wider region.
- The courtyard of the school “St. Ignatius” of the orphanage has been filled in and the curtain wall will soon be finished, donated entirely by your Brotherhood.
- In the boys’ orphanage we installed an electricity generator at a cost of 10,000 euros, a filter for clean drinking water and we also made a small, simple playground for the younger boys to play on. It remains to create a place for washing and to buy a professional washing machine, which will be purchased if and when a donation is made for this.
- A new borehole was drilled at the girls’ orphanage, as the existing one dried up and we faced an acute and urgent problem.
- Also, at the back of the Girls’ Orphanage, we started fencing and filling in order to create a farm that will meet the needs of the orphanages and reduce maintenance costs. However, the work stopped before it was well underway as donations have dramatically decreased and I am unable to continue.
- In Kaligat, in the Temple and the Presbytery, a special spraying is done every 20 days for termites, which appeared again after years. We are also repairing the roof of the Presbytery with insulation, work costing about 5,000 euros. Work that could not be postponed any longer as at the first drizzle the water ran and watered all the walls.
- Repairs were made to the Church of the Three Hierarchs in Noihati: changing the frames, creating a shed to protect the building and the new frames from the rain, etc.
- In all the villages our buildings are in immediate need of repair and maintenance, which I am currently unable to do. The needs are never ending…
Finally, on behalf of all our faithful here, I express our deep gratitude for your love and help. I ask for your prayers
With appreciation and love of Christ
