The School in Kakerere opened its doors

It was God’s inspiration that led Mr. Peter from the Czech Republic to decide to build a School for the Mission, as well as the decision of the Orthodox Missionary Fraternity to establish the School in the Diocese of Bukoba.

It was decided to build it in the parish of the Holy Cross in Kakerere, the most populous parish of the Diocese. The plans and related budget for the project were prepared. The school project began in August 2022 and was completed within a year.

In February 2024, His Grace Bishop Chrysostomos of Bukoba traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, to thank the pious donor Mr. Peter and to discuss the final works.

With the assistance of the electrical engineer Mr. Christos Papas, the school was powered with photovoltaic systems.

Since November 2024, the School has begun its operation. An Orthodox educator took over the teaching, and it was furnished by the Arsakeia Schools of Athens. Parents sent their children. Appropriate uniforms were sewn, and the school began functioning.

Glory to the Only True and Great Teacher on earth, our Lord Jesus Christ, “who enlightens every person coming into the world,” for His mercy and love for His poor but numerous flock in Kakerere.

† Bishop Chrysostomos of Bukoba
