Ordination of a Priest from the Ulugulu Tribe in Tanzania

With simplicity but also with ecclesiastical splendor and with the wishes and blessings of H.D.B. Theodore II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, the new Deacon of the Holy Metropolis of Irinoupolis Fr. Paschalios Mayuma was ordained Elder by His Eminence Metropolitan Dimitrios.of Irinoupolis.

It is worth emphasizing that Fr. Paschalios is the first Priest from the Ulugoulou tribe, in the Kimamba – Kilosa region, where at least 500 Greek families used to live (50 years ago)!!!

The moving sacrament was performed at the Holy Church of Saints Catherine, Arsenios and Paisios in Morogoro, where Rev.Fr. Dimitrios especially thanked His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria for His great love in the East African Mission and the blessing of the ordination, but also His Eminence. Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira not only for his great contribution to the Orthodox Mission of Tanzania, but also for the 25th anniversary of his ordination as an Elder in India by him, which he still remembers with deep gratitude.

Sunday’s Divine Liturgy service was attended in exemplary order by hundreds of native Orthodox, among them dozens of neophytes from the St. Irene Parish in Mvumi, where the newly ordained priest will serve, but also many natives from the Ulugulu tribe, who, after the fellowship meal “agape” offered by the Lespouridis brothers from Russelsheim, Germany in memory of their parents Lazarus and Charicleia, they celebrated and congratulated in their own primitive African way the Priest from their tribe.

Father Paschalios will be in charge of the Mission for the 4 new parishes in the area towards DODOMA, the administrative capital of Tanzania, where we have already erected 2 new church buildings in the last five years.
