Christ is Risen, my brethren!
The Holy Clergy, the flock of our Holy Metropolis, and I personally are sending you all together, along with our love, our Paschal greetings. May the light of the Resurrection shine on the entire world; may it bring the coveted peace among our brothers, unity and brotherhood in our Church and may it lead peoples and nations to the Giver of Light, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Incidentally, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you about some snapshots from the life of our Diocese.
Holy Week and Easter
My first Easter in Ghana was moving. You see, the pandemic did not allow me to travel last year and celebrate the Holy Days at my base. I participated in the sacred services and prayed along with our faithful. We were companions on the way to Golgotha and to the Resurrection of our Lord. May their humility, their reverence, their participation set an example for imitation for all of us, who unfortunately have identified the Holy Resurrection of the God-man with red eggs and lamb on the spit.
The reopening of the Breman School
We are pleased to announce the reopening of Breman School. The school was closed due to corona virus. We managed to reopen it this year. It took its first steps again with the kindergarten and the first grade of elementary school under the supervision of Father Isaac and his presbytera. The school also offers lunch for students who cannot afford to eat it at home.
The Sacred Church of our Savior Jesus Christ and St. James
The Sacred Church of our Savior Jesus Christ and St. James is in the stage of laying the foundation. The building is located next to the old Sacred Church of St. James the Apostle and Brother of our Lord, which is threatened by the city expansion. The church rests on the main road of the city and the authorities have informed us that it will soon be demolished so that they can widen the road. The parish has already provided and laid the foundations of the new Sacred Church, dedicated to our Savior Jesus Christ and to St. James the Brother of our Lord, which will also be the Cathedral of Central Ghana. We hope that by the Grace of God, we will prevent the construction and operation of the new Sacred Church and its presbytery before the demolition of the old church.
Celebrations of Forty Years of Integration
Planning for the celebrations of the fortieth anniversary of the integration of the Ghanaians into the regular Orthodox Church – the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa – is being continued. An important part in them will be played by the large youth camp, which due to corona virus, has not been held for two years.
