Christ is risen! Truly risen!
In the midst of this great pandemic that is still plaguing the world and humanity, where people are in agony trying to find a cure, many others have lost their jobs, others remain sick in their homes or in hospitals and unfortunately many have left this life, there is a group of people who are unfortunately going through other difficulties that most people have not seen.
People suffering from malaria, yellow fever, etc., but also people who have nowhere to go but a small house made of mud where a whole family will live, waiting for a better day to dawn.
So it is to these people that this article is dedicated. The photos shown show a house made of mud and straw, converted into a church, so that these believers can also celebrate the Sunday divine service here and receive the honest and all-pure body and blood of our Christ.
The priest and the parishioners sometimes travel a full hour or two to get to their church to be served and back home again.
You will also see photos of an orphanage where the priest toils daily to care for these needy children.
You will see the children eating a plate of food that is all they will have for that day, and yet there is no smile on their faces.
In an equatorial country where there is rain most days of the year, people are mainly trying to repair the roofs of their houses and churches to keep water out.
So, dear readers, these photos are just a drop in the ocean of the trials and tribulations that people face here.
From the distant parts of Western Kenya to Kisumu, we greet you with the joyful announcement of “Christ is risen” and ask for your blessings and prayers.
Our dream and our expectation is that one day all these people of God will also have a decent home and a church finished with the necessities, with no shortages of incense, charcoal, chalices, vestments, daily food, clothing and medicine.
We cannot solve all the problems of the world or Africa, but we know that they will have less need and our world will be a better place because we have shown what our Lord taught us: Love.
