Programming and operations in Katanga

Dear friends of the Mission,

Christ is risen. I hope the grace of the Risen Christ strengthens us all.

With the blessings and prayers of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodore II, the Holy Metropolis of Katanga continues to carry out and increase its missionary work. For two years now, however, the congregations of the faithful and the seminaries of priests and deacons have been brought to a standstill due to a pandemic, and therefore this year months in advance we have set in motion the program and implementation of how best to carry out our seminary.

The partners in the missionary work put themselves at the disposal and obedience, how to make the seminar in the best way, so the teachers of theologians from Greece will be used through the internet. A big problem is the transportation of the priests for a twenty-day period, let us hope that some people will be sensitized and will assist in this mission, because some priests come from 500 kilometers and more and expenses are required, because most of them arrive on motorcycles.

At the same time, the inauguration of holy temples such as St. Nicholas Coluezi, St. Gerasimos Tsiabulas, Saints Kirykos and Juliet Lwankoko, St. Herodion Tsiamunzaka and others are planned. Fr. Panteleimon Pulos again saw to it that all the necessities of the inauguration were sent in redundancy, because here they are hard to find.

Our model schools are working regularly and diligently, because for a long time they were inactive due to COVID-19 and now they are working rapidly to fill the gap created.

Construction works continue in the Holy Metropolis of Katanga, such as the enclosure of the plot of land, of the small inn and other works at the Holy Church of St. Herodion. Within the days of June, the foundation of the Holy Church of the Annunciation (donated by an anonymous donor from Thessaloniki) will be laid, while the foundation of the Holy Church of the Prophet Elijah in Gulf Kolwezi and other small churches in the countryside will be laid.
The completion of our kindergarten has been halted due to the crisis, but we still hope that work will quickly resume.

Let us hope that with the prayers of our Primate all will go well and be blessed and the Panteleimon Lord will preserve us from the terrible pandemic, so that we can continue our humble effort.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing by our work for so many years, and especially in these months of the pandemic crisis.
