Religious Education Programme in Sumatra

The Holy Metropolis of Singapore and South Asia, in cooperation with the missionary organization OCMC (Orthodox Christian Mission Center), conducted a Religious Education program in Sumatra, Indonesia, from June 28 to July 12, 2015. Seven volunteers from America (Mr. Richard J. Mohr, Megan Haak, Mrs. Roberta Sardell, Presbytera Renee Ritsi, Maxim A.M. Kroll, Nicholas Birbilis, Fr. Nathan D. Kroll) led by Rev. Martin Ritsi, Director of OCMC, traveled to Sumatra and made special presentations to the faculty and students of our St. Paul Theological School in Medan and to the students of the Computer Science and Business Management departments of the Polytechnic Academy. The volunteers also visited the schools “Aghia Sophia” and “Aghios Nikitas” of the Holy Metropolis in Medan, made presentations and had the opportunity to talk to the teaching staff and students. OCMC team members, during their stay in Sumatra, also had the opportunity to participate in catechetical programs, to visit Orthodox Communities and Institutions (the Boarding House and the Theotokos Hospital) in Medan and the surrounding area and to participate in the High Mass and the ordination of new Indonesian clergy, which was celebrated on Saturday 11 July, presided over by His Eminence, Bishop of Singapore and South Asia, Mr. Cyril of Singapore and South Asia.Constantine.
