Water tanks in Madagascar

The first water tank is ready
The first water tank is ready

In Southwest Madagascar, home to the Andantroi, Bara and Mahafali tribes, people are facing water scarcity. The need to find it makes them long travellers of many kilometres. They are forced to carry it with animals or on their shoulders in crates.

In this unfavourable environment, the Orthodox Mission cultivates the souls of the indigenous people with the holy seed of the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. In this effort they are producing charitable work for the people of Madagascar. In many areas wells have been opened. Unfortunately, in south-western Madagascar, the water table is not sufficient for drilling. Therefore, the Metropolis has decided to build reservoirs, equipped with suitable water filters, which will be supplied monthly by water truck from water-rich northern Madagascar. In this article, we present the first tank, with a capacity of 25,000 cubic centimetres, which was created at a cost of €10,000 by a donation from our distinguished donor. The same donor is funding a second tank in another village in the region. Each tank provides the necessary water to 1,000-2,000 inhabitants. We ask for your help so that we can bring relief to the natives in this area.
