My brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. With the grace of God and the blessings of His Eminence our Metropolitan, we are writing this short letter to express once again the thanks of our Malawian brothers and sisters for your generous offer. Let us make it known to your love that our mission continues to give daily:
Soup kitchens
Rations for the 300 poor children attending our kindergartens. It is imperative that we continue to offer help to poor families and to this end we ask for every well-meaning small or large donation of love.
Visit to prisoners
We also try to continue our charitable visits to our imprisoned brothers and sisters. It is a great relief that they receive-and we really pray to God to enlighten the donors especially for this program.
Construction of a Holy Temple
We remind you of our great desire for the construction of the Church of the Nativity of the Saviour. It has been almost a year since His Beatitude the Patriarch laid the foundation stone for this future Holy Church in the heart of the city of Blantyre. Already the planning authority has approved the plans and we pray that a pious donor will be found for this holy cause. We therefore inform your love that this Holy Church is estimated to cost 85,000 €, a sum quite high for our critical economic times.
Staff training
We also remind your love that in our missionary effort and care, we consider it very necessary and necessary to take care of the training of candidates for indigenous clergy and catechists. These individuals are the living hope for the continuation of our missionary work. For this reason we send annually three to four indigenous seminarians to the two Orthodox ecclesiastical schools: the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Egypt and the Holy Metropolis of Kenya. The cost for each student is €1,200 per year plus a small monthly allowance of €40 to help their families.
- We ask God to enlighten generous donors to embrace and support the above mission projects, so that we may continue to work for the evangelization of our African brothers and sisters, both out of love for God and love for our long-suffering fellow man. May you have God’s blessing.
