Foundation of two new projects in Gungu, Congo

We praise God, who in the difficult days that our country is going through, takes care to bring out new donors for the work of the foreign mission. The sensitivity of our compassionate fellow human beings has offered from the abundance of their hearts for the support of our Orthodox (and not only) brothers and sisters in the countries of Africa. Already three loving donors have undertaken through our Fraternity to finance two new projects in the town of Gungu in Cogno, with a population of about 100,000 inhabitants, located 700 km southeast of the capital Kinshasa. With their help, a Church of the Immaculate Conception will be built to house the Orthodox indigenous flock. In addition, a school complex will be built to provide free education to the children of the area. The day before yesterday, June 7, 2011, the foundation stones were laid in a simple church ceremony. Construction work will soon begin on these blessed spiritual and social projects. Here is a brief update from the Rev. Please find below a brief information from our Bishop Nikephoros of Central Africa:

The foundation stone of the Church of the Annunciation and the school was laid today in the presence of representatives of the authorities and a large number of people. We have just now returned after an 11-hour journey and I am sending you to rejoice. We remembered especially for the health of the three anonymous possessors of the Church and School. When I come, I will bring you more photos and video.
