The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance… But the righteous live for evermore…
The Orthodox Missionary Fraternity honours the late Vaios Prantzos (1946-2025), who served as president for eight consecutive years and was distinguished for his keen mind, insight and discernment in his decisions. His love for God transcended the boundaries of his physical homeland and was expressed in his experience and service to needy people everywhere.
The Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa honored him as Grand Archon Orphanotroph and he fully justified the title with his life, his contribution and his love on the mission field! He labored the fight of faith in the missionary departments, he endured hardship as a good soldier at the risk of losing his life when he contracted malaria. He inspired and was inspired by the Patristic texts and the Sacred Tradition of the Church, kept them and handed them down as a sacred legacy until the end of his life, to those who follow the Lord’s commandment “make disciples among all nations“.
He was authentic, patient, tireless, energetic, condescending, godfearing, laborious, hospitable, and above all, charitable to all those who knocked on the home of his heart… the mission!
Vaios Prantzos was a model family man who was distinguished for his piety and his faith in the principles of the Gospel. We honour our partner, as the large families also do. How many children do you have? the large families asked each other. Some said eight, others nine, others ten! Again, Vaios surpassed us all, they answered…
Of course children, as the Holy Fathers say, are a cross, and Vaios Prantzos together with his praiseworthy wife willingly crucified themselves, raising their children in the training and admonition of the Lord.
Everlasting be the memory of our brother Vaios Prantzos, who is worthy of blessedness.
