A New Church is Born

Dear Friends of Mission,

With God’s help, we are well. I would like to tell you some news from our Orthodox Mission in Indonesia.

These days I am going to leave for Nias Island to see the process of our works there and meet with the teachers of our Orthodox school.

Then I am going to visit Jakarta to bless a wedding there and after that, I am going to go to Surabaya. There, a group of Muslims, about 25 people, have expressed the desire to be taught about Orthodoxy.

Thank God I am quite well to take care of everything, although I now have to walk with a cane.

Fr. Prochoros Allo visited Borneo Island to see how we can establish an Orthodox parish there. With the money you sent us from Greece, we bought a plot of land. There, we want to build a church and a small room for Fr. Prochoros. This is estimated to cost 50,000 euro. Please pray to God to send some good-hearted people to help us.

Also, with the money you gave us, we have rented a field and have planted rice. In 3 months’ time, we will harvest and sell it and with that money, we will support our priests in Indonesia, who are deprived of a salary.

Wishing in the Lord with deep gratitude for your love,

Fr. Chrysostomos Manalu
