There are places where Orthodoxy has just taken root. Places where the first catechumens are baptized under a makeshift shelter or in an open space, because there is no church yet to welcome them.
Countries where newly established parishes pray in shacks made of corrugated iron and straw, awaiting their own church.
Countries where the first Orthodox Church of an entire city, an entire country, has not yet been built.
In such places, our missionaries live and work. That is why, with your loving help, our Fraternity funds the construction of churches, so that every newly established Orthodox community can acquire its own place of worship, where the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated, children will be baptized, and faith will be strengthened for future generations.
In the past year alone, thanks to your support, churches have been inaugurated or built in many parts of the world:
- In Dodoma, the new capital of Tanzania, Metropolitan Agathonikos of Arusha performed the opening ceremony of the city’s first Orthodox Church, the Holy Trinity Church, with a donation from the Fraternity.
- In Cereté, Colombia, the first Orthodox Church in the entire region was inaugurated: Saint Athanasios Church, funded by Fraternity.
- In Southern Madagascar, the first Church worldwide dedicated to Saint Chrysostomos Papasarantopoulos opened its doors, funded by the Fraternity.
The cost for the construction of each church varies considerably depending on the region and it averages €39,000.

What you can do
Building a church is a great blessing that requires significant resources. If you can undertake the entire construction of a church in the countries of the Mission, you will have the opportunity to choose the name of the saint or feast to which it will be dedicated.
If you wish to contribute in part or in whole to the construction of a new church, please contact us to discuss our next steps.
