Meeting with Bishop Photios of Malawi
On Sunday, July 6th, we had the joy of meeting with His Grace Bishop Photios of Malawi.
The energetic and tireless hierarch expressed his gratitude for the systematic provision of humanitarian aid by the Orthodox Missionary Fraternity. He then described, with vivid and eloquent words, the difficulties faced by the missionary ministry in Malawi, as well as the progress that has been achieved by God’s grace.
The central request of His Grace was funding for the construction of a Multi-Purpose Center, whose foundation stone was laid just a few days ago with the blessings of His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria.
This building will include:
- storage space for humanitarian aid goods sent through the Fraternity,
- accommodation rooms for volunteers,
- a lecture and seminar hall where catechesis, clergy training, and other activities will take place,
- a dining hall,
- offices
Most importantly, it will serve as the administrative center of the Holy Diocese.
The building is planned to be erected near the existing diocesan offices and Saint Panteleimon church.
The remaining amount needed to complete the construction is expected to exceed €50,000, and raising the required funds is of vital importance for beginning and completing the work, as well as for establishing, systematically cultivating, and expanding missionary activity in the region.
Everyone’s help—through prayer and/or financial support—is precious and welcome.
