Humanitarian Aid for Northern Madagascar
By the grace of God, on the Second Sunday of Lent, March 16, 2025, after the Divine Liturgy, the Orthodox Missionary Fraternity, continuing its missionary work, sent from its facilities in Filyro a container consisting of 15 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the Holy Metropolis of Northern Madagascar.
The entire effort was blessed by the presence of Metropolitan Barnabas of Neapolis and Stavroupolis. His Eminence had the opportunity to meet with the Board of Directors of the Orthodox Missionary Fraternity as well as with our valuable volunteers. He emphasized that sending humanitarian aid “promotes the message of resurrection, joy and celebration, to reach our distant brothers, whom our love brings close,” while noting that “the meaning of Resurrection is too big to keep to yourself, it cannot be borne alone, you must share it with your brothers.”
Metropolitan Barnabas thanked the President of the Orthodox Missionary Fraternity, Mr. Charalampos Metallidis, the parish priest of St. George Church in Filyro Fr. Anastasios Kontoleon, and all the volunteers for their cooperation and service, praising the creation of this “network of solidarity and love”.
We sincerely thank all donors who support the humanitarian aid program and through it hundreds of thousands of our fellow human beings every year.
