Introductory visit of Bishop Isaac of Burundi

On Monday, February 17th, His Grace Bishop Isaac of Burundi visited our Fraternity for the first time during a meeting of the Board of Directors. The amiable missionary described s the dire war situation in the country of his jurisdiction, the extreme poverty, the lack of facilities, the never-ending effort to restore the existing ones and underlined the rapid growth of Islam in the region.

The Church of Burundi consists of eight priests, hundreds of believers and catechumens. The needs are many and ongoing. The bishop informed us of the projects he has implemented in his first year of ministry, such as church and school renovations and translations of the holy services to Kirundi language. He also mentioned his quest to purchase a central plot of land costing about 5,000 euros, for the construction of a new church which will cost 20,000 euros.

The Board of Directors was impressed by the depth, sincerity and directness of the bishop. They pledged that the Fraternity will stand as a companion and supporter in his laborious missionary activities. At the same time the Fraternity granted the amount of 2,000 Euros to the Holy Diocese and invited bishop Isaac to speak at our monthly gathering of Sunday, May 11, 2025.
