Strength in unity

One more container of humanitarian aid left the warehouses of the Orthodox Missionary Fraternity in Filyro. Words of praise come from our grateful hearts. Once again the Lord has allowed us to minister in His work. So many different people gathered after Sunday liturgy with one common purpose: to contribute, in this small effort, to the great work of spreading the gospel to our suffering brothers.

All of us responding to the Lord’s call “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me’…” (Matthew 25:35-36), we all rushed to help in any way we could. All of us, even those who could not be physically present, prayerfully asked for the intercession of Christ the Savior for this shipment.

A shipment that could not have been accomplished without the contribution of our donors. The tractor from Gregoriou monastery in Mount Athos, the bells from “Saint Cosmas the Aetolian” Orthodox missionary association, the food and church supplies from Holy Trinity–Saint Nectarios monastery in Aegina, as well as beds with mattresses and bedding from Prousos monastery.

All of the above, as well as some additional food and various items of clothing were loaded with the blessings of Metropolitan Barnabas of Neapolis for the Diocese of Katanga. There it will be received by Metropolitan Meletios, Bishop Kosmas and the hegumen Fr. Barnabas of Gregoriou.

In closing, I would like to underline a quote of the recently left for the Heavenly Kingdom late Archbishop Anastasios of Albania: “The Church without mission is a church with no mission.”
