200 tons of humanitarian aid, ten containers of love and sacrifice

With the mercy of the Holy Triune God and the blessing of the local church and His Eminence the Metropolitan of Neapolis and Stavroupolis κ. Barnabas , the Orthodox Foreign Missionary Brotherhood sent in 2024 ten containers of humanitarian aid from its warehouses in Filiro. More than 200 tons of donated items, such as food, church supplies, cars, medicines, medical supplies, furniture, clothes and toys, were delivered to their destination, local Orthodox churches around the world, in order to support their ecclesiastical and charitable work. More specifically, the countries that received containers were:

  • Madagascar (I.E. Toliaras)
  • Congo (I.M. Kinshasa)
  • Guinea
  • Togo (I.E. Benin and Togo)
  • Malawi
  • Congo (I.M.Kinshasa)
  • Congo (I.M.Katanga)
  • two trucks in the parish of Our Lady of Plamen and
  • one at the Provita orphanage in Romania.

They once asked Jesus with the intention of teasing him: “Teacher, what is the greatest commandment?” And he answered, “Love God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your strength. That is the first commandment. Second like it, to love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these” (Luke 10:25-29).

When they continued to ask him and “who is the neighbor?”, Jesus quoted the wonderful parable of the Good Samaritan. The Samaritan and the wounded man were alien, irreligious, strangers to each other and enemies, and yet Christ presented him as a neighbor and gave the command to people of all ages – no matter the differences – to love “others” as ourselves!

Inspired by the above evangelical words, the board members, volunteers, friends and donors of our Fraternity intend, with God, to continue the great charitable work of sending containers for the glory of God and the prevalence of His Kingdom on earth.
