The Mission in South Congo
The Mission in South Congo
On Sunday, May 15, the friends of the Brotherhood of Orthodox Foreign Mission had for the first time the opportunity to welcome the Most Reverend Bishop of Constantinople, Mr. Kosmas (Thasitis), Auxiliary Bishop of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, who works in the Holy Metropolis of Katanga.
The active missionary of the southern ecclesiastical region of Congo underlined the importance for the African Mission of the continuous support it receives from the Greeks. He then highlighted the problems of understaffing and spoke about the first male monastery in sub-Saharan Africa. Analyzing the 50-year journey of the Orthodox Mission in the region, he highlighted the promising prospects for this mature ecclesial community of 150,000 believers.
On Sunday, May 15, at 10.30 a.m., we invite you to our Fraternity Meeting, to be held in our hall at 6 Mackenzie King Street.
It is with great pleasure that we will host for the first time Bishop Kosmas of Constantine, an auxiliary bishop working in the Holy Metropolis of Katanga in southern Congo, to talk to us about the Orthodox Mission in this southern province of Congo (DRC).
