Recently, many accounts have appeared on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) pretending to represent Orthodox missionaries, mainly from African countries.
The Brotherhood of Orthodox Foreign Mission, the oldest missionary association in the world, feels obliged to inform you that many of these accounts have nothing to do with the Orthodox Mission, they come from people who are not even Orthodox but exploit the social sensitivity of the world, in order to gain personal property benefits.
For this reason, we recommend:
- Do not accept friendship/following requests from people you do not know,
- Never send money via PayPal, Western Union, GoFundMe and similar services,
- Do not deposit money in bank accounts where even one beneficiary is a natural person,
- Make donations only to ecclesiastical legal entities recognized by the competent Patriarchates or to reliable transparent missionary organizations, such as our Brotherhood.
