Professor Maria Kazamia, Professor, has fallen asleep in the Lord

After an arduous battle with cancer, Ann. Professor of the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Maria Kazamia-Tsernou, was laid to rest on the afternoon of September 9, 2016. The deceased academic was a tireless researcher of Byzantine Archaeology with a great deal of writing, while she was particularly active in the field of Foreign Mission, was a member of the Administrative Association of the Brotherhood of Orthodox Foreign Mission and taught at the Orthodox Theological School of Congo.

Maria Kazamia-Tsernou was born in Athens in 1959. She studied at the Faculty of Philosophy (Department of Archaeology and Art) and at the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She completed her postgraduate studies at the University of Sorbonne (Paris IV) in Byzantine Art, where she received her D.E.A. in 1987. He has written numerous books and studies on Byzantine Archaeology and Art.

The funeral service will be chanted today, Saturday, at 16.oo at the Church of St. Photios, in Nea Paralia, Thessaloniki. Her wish, in lieu of wreaths and flowers, is that money be sent to the Orthodox Foreign Mission. Her eternal memory. Good Paradise!
