Ordination of one of our scholars from Uganda

Emmanuel Kamanya hails from Busoga, Uganda. He is the son of Fr. Stephen Lunagula, an Orthodox priest of the Metropolis of Kampala, and from a very young age was baptized and indoctrinated into the Orthodox Church. In a world increasingly hostile to the Christian faith, but at the same time in which more and more Orthodox are yearning, seeking and being baptized every day and the number of atheists worldwide is decreasing, Emmanuel responded wholeheartedly to the call of the Patriarch of Alexandria and chose to study at the Orthodox seminary of St. Athanasius in Alexandria, in order to dedicate himself to the great cause of missionary work. In 2010 he came to Thessaloniki to continue his studies at the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Here we got to know him, appreciated the quality of his character and since then we have been supporting him every month through the student aid program. On Thursday, April 23, during the Divine Liturgy at the feast of St. George in Neapolis, Emmanuel will be entitled to receive from the hands of Metropolitan Barnabas the first degree of the priesthood, with the blessings and benedictions of Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria and All Africa. We are very happy because for the umpteenth time a scholar of our Fraternity is becoming a priest of the Most High and will soon join the missionary work in Uganda. We hope that God will bless him so that through him tens of thousands of souls on the African continent may become Orthodox and receive the Body and Blood of Christ.

We invite you all to join us for this great celebration of the Mission!
