Announcement: Our Fraternity is a charitable association recognized and controlled

On the occasion of recent publications that have occupied part of the press regarding illegal fundraisers and fake non-profit organizations, which have been springing up like mushrooms in recent years (usually in the form of a Non-Profit Civil Society), we would like to remind our dear friends of the Mission that:

  • the Brotherhood of Orthodox Foreign Mission is a recognized charity since 1963,
  • is governed by an unpaid 9-member Board of Directors, which collectively approves all expenditures,
  • its financial management is controlled by a three-member Audit Committee consisting of members of the Association and the General Assembly of full members,
  • is thoroughly supervised financially every year by the Municipality of Thessaloniki,
  • issue certified receipts for each donation, whether named or anonymous,
  • the acts approving its Financial Budget and Accounts are published on Transparency,
  • for all donations, a donation tax return is submitted to the competent tax office and the relevant tax is paid,
  • allocates each year more than 87% of the donations collected (net of taxes and operating costs) to promote the Orthodox mission around the world and charity to the poor, disabled, sick, orphans and the elderly. In fact, if a donation is made for a specific program, project or country, 100% of your donation is allocated to that cause.

The solidarity and love of Greeks in the years of crisis is tangible proof of our hope for a better world. However, alms must be given with discernment, so that your money can be used and bear fruit in the garden of the Kingdom of God.
