Tanzania
1200 new baptisms in the Metropolis of Irinople. By the grace of God, Orthodoxy has exceeded 50,000 believers.
Kenya
- The 750,000 Kenyan Orthodox had the pleasure of welcoming the Patriarch of Africa, Mr Theodore, to their country. The Patriarch was received with honours by the political and diplomatic authorities in the country, while the Orthodox thronged to receive his blessing in the Holy Churches wherever he went. Among others, His Beatitude visited the Patriarchal Theological Academy in Nairobi, other higher institutions of the Orthodox Church, the humanitarian activities of the Kenyan Metropolis in the slum of Kabira, dozens of schools under the auspices of the Church, hospitals and clinics. The Patriarch of Alexandria also visited the tomb of the late Bishop George Gaduna of Nitria, where he celebrated a trisagogy, and attended clergy meetings.
- The Metropolis of Kenya has acquired another school in the Nadi village of Kapkores, donated by the Kenyan government.
Maghreb
Metropolitan Alexios of Cartagena visited Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria, where he met with the Orthodox faithful living in these Islamic regimes and celebrated the Holy Masses.
Sierra Leone
The Ebola epidemic continues to mow down souls. Around 1,000 young people contract haemorrhagic fever every week in West Africa. By God’s grace, no Orthodox have contracted the virus.
