Bobo, 12/6/09
With this letter, I wish to inform you of the projects which the Brotherhood has financed in the Holy Metropolis of Kampala and All Uganda – Bombo chapter. 1. I am referring to the primary school in the parish of St. John -Gavu-Kibirizi. This school was finished last year and one hundred and fifty children are doing their lessons in it. The problem here is that every year we have to add two more classrooms until we reach the seventh grade, which a regular primary school should have. Altogether around me there are six classrooms missing. 2. The second elementary school in St. Friday’s parish -LYN YOMA, is finished but will be open next year. It was not possible because we did not have seats and a toilet. 3. The Health Center in memory of missionary and great benefactor Panagiotis Papadimitrakopoulos needs roofing, windows, doors and plastering. 4. The church of St. Constantine has progressed satisfactorily. Please send us some money for both of these projects soon, as we fear for the walls due to the rains. 5. I am informing you about the educational adoption program. As of this year the number has reached fifty primary school children and we have already received the amount of 9,000€ for the first thirty children and we thank you very much. 6. The baptisms were held on Holy Saturday and we gave all the names except for two that were very difficult to pronounce. 7. We received the sum of 10,000€ for the Church of the Life-Giving Spring and 8,000€ for the orphanage. We are very grateful to you. 8. With the tractor you bought us, we have organized our farm properly. We have a large area of banana trees, corn and casava. We have also moved the livestock (cows and goats) that we had in the center. I have high hopes for the farm. The big problem is water. Please help us with a well. Our needs may give you much thought and concern. Where can you first help and with what? We too are ashamed but we can’t help it. God has given us responsibilities in areas that have so many needs and we have to try. On behalf of the Orthodox Christians and the orphaned children of our centre, I commend you.
