His All Holiness the Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was born in Imbros, Turkey, in 1942. He was ordained the bishop of Philadelphia in 1973, while in 1990 he was elected the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.
